Entry to the fantastic Te Puia complex is the highlight of the day. The Maori cultural performance is included in our tour - as well as a dedicated and knowledgeable guide for the day.

Your guide will share their passion and knowledge about not only Rotorua, but the Bay of Plenty region as a whole. Learn about the province and see why it is such a popular place to live.

You will travel past extensive kiwifruit orchards on our route to Rotorua and your guide will explain how this amazing fruit became a kiwi icon. we will show you Rotorua's interesting city centre - including famous landmarks such as Government Gardens, the Bath House, Blue Baths and the lakefront.

Highlights of Te Puia:

- See geysers explode high into the air, viscous mud pools bubble away and boiling hot pools simmer endlessly. You will only get those iconic geyser photos at Te Puia where you are up close and personal with many of the geothermal features.

- Experience an awe-inspiring cultural performance from a local Maori group. The 30 minute concert includes a powhiri (welcome) onto the Marae (meeting house), as well as traditional songs and dances. You will see the famous Haka (war dance) - guaranteed to send a shiver down your spine!

- Spot the elusive kiwi in the nocturnal enclosure. These shy birds are our national icon and are now endangered.

- Watch craftsmen and women learn their trade in the newly refurbished carving and weaving schools. The apprentices here are keeping their customs alive.

  • Some walking is involved on well made paths with gentle inclines

  • Children/infants must have a valid ticket to travel. Under NZTA law each person is counted as part of our loading limit. Please note that for safety reasons we recommend you bring a suitable child/infant seat.
  • This tour operates with a minimum of 4 fare paying passengers. Should minimum numbers not be met on the day we will talk to you about alternative options.
  • Unfortunately this tour is not suitable for users of mobility scooters or wheel chairs as there is no storage capacity on the minibus.

    I'm not able to walk very far - is this a problem?

While the tour requires some walking it is on well made paths.

    Are entry fees included?

Yes entry to Te Puia is included, this also includes the maori cultural performance.

     Is this tour suitable for wheelchair users?

This tour is NOT suitable for users of mobility scooters or wheel chairs as there is no storage capacity on the minibus.

    What if the ships arrival or departure times do not match this tour?

When a ship is arriving or departing at times that do not suit our normal tour times, then we adjust these times to suit. These adjusted times are shown on your voucher when you make a booking and also on the "prices" tab of the tour details on the web site, if you have created a "my cruise" account.

     My group is larger than 24 persons, can you do larger groups?

Yes, most of our tours are small group programs, but we can offer the same tour program in most cases for groups greater than 24 persons, please contact us to obtain a quotation.

    What are the options for lunch on this tour?

Te Puia has a very good cafe offering both cold and hot food options. Time is allowed during the visit for you to purchase something of choice.
